
Sojourner Truth (c. 1797-1883) was a former slave who became a prominent abolitionist, women’s rights activist, and orator. She gave her famous “Ain’t I a Woman?” speech at the Ohio Women’s Rights Convention in 1851, advocating for women’s rights and equal treatment of African Americans.
