The Battle of Princeton, fought on January 3, 1777, was a significant victory for the American Continental Army during the Revolutionary War. General Washington led his troops north from Trenton to confront a British force near Princeton. This victory not only bolstered American morale and confidence but also liberated much of New Jersey from British control. It also impressed the French foreign ministry, already providing financial aid to the Americans. The success at Princeton resulted in increased recruitment for the Continental Army in the spring and shifted the momentum of the war in favor of the Americans.
